The Polar Bears at Kaktovik, Alaska arrive annually in time to share the remain's from the annual whale hunt. This will carry them over until the ice freezes and they can hunt seal. The locals are allowed to hunt 3 whales per year and the bears are very accustomed to sharing the bone pile with the local residents.
The babies will stay with their Mom's for 2 years. Two of the Mom's in 2017 had triplet's and several had twins which is a sign of overall good health.
There are so many bears in Kaktovik that they need to have a polar bear patrol around town at night to help protect the residents who recommend that you do not walk the streets after dark..
